Combined trek Toubkal Ascent & M'goun Trek - Central High Atlas

• Experience the climb of the highest peak in North Africa, Mount Toubkal summit 4167m (13600fit), get a stunning views of the Atlas Mountains, green valleys & Berber villages, meet the Berber guided & muleteers go for the this adventure of your life time....Mount Toubkal 4167m is the highest peak in North Africa, and is a trekking peak involving no climbing. two days involve walking in crampons holding an ice axe for security (Nov to April ) . The itinerary has been designed for keen walkers, as the ascent is non-technical, but involves some easy scrambling and snow slopes. The views from the summit are amazing across the mountains to Marrakech to the north, and the start of the Sahara to the south. All around are the jagged peaks of the High Atlas stretching as far as you can see in every direction.

• The Mgoun Massif forms the most southerly of the three ridges, which make up the High Atlas. Our trek is a high circuit in the Central Atlas and starts in the beautiful valley of the Ait Bougemez. Not only do we enjoy the majestic scenery of these rugged mountains, but also the friendly and fascinating culture of the indigenous Berbers. It is a wild area, which in comparison with the Jebel Toubkal region, sees very few groups and subsequently has a more simplistic tourist infrastructure. In many ways however the scenery is more magnificent with extensive terracing, green broad valleys pierced with irrigation canals, areas of walnut copses, strange rock formations and colours, with the villages clinging to the mountainsides. Above all this soars the peak of Mgoun at just over 4000 metres, only slightly less than Toubkal itself. All in all it is perhaps a more interesting mountain, because instead of endless scree fields, the 'Alpine start' takes you up to a high roller coaster ridge, along above and past a huge cirque (corrie) to the summit. We have watched Lammergeiers land on this high point in previous years!

Itinerary

Day 1 : Marrakech –

Day 2: Marrakech– Ait Bouguemez

Drive from Marrakech to Agouti In the morning, where you have time to relax at the guesthouse in agouti when we arrive in the late afternoon.

Day 3:Agouti to Arous Camp overnight.

Day 4:Trek to Tarkedit Plateau We walk up in a wild landscape before crossing the Aghouri pass at 3,450m then descend to the wind-eroded and snow-covered high plateau of Tarkedit (2,900m). After lunch (there is a hut on the plateau), we climb up to the southern side of the plateau and establish a camp at 3,400m, directly below M'goun West (3,978m). 7-8 hours walking. Camp.

Day 5:Ascent of Djebel M'goun (4,068m) to Oulilimt Today we make our ascent to the summit of Djebel M'goun. The climb follows a long ridge, all at or above 4,000m, which typically takes between 4 and 5 hours to the summit, depending on snow conditions. From the top, th
